Summer has landed in Chicago, thunderstorms and all. And this midwest thing is beginning to grow on me. Given that it's been a number of months since the last news from the front, we thought it opportune to post an update.
So what's new?
First up, Christian Cambas, the Greek DJ who you might recall from remixes of "Amphibian" and "Lights in the Attic," is releasing his debut album on Devilock/Planetworks at the end of the month (it's available exclusively through Beatport on June 29th, and everywhere else in July). The opening track pulls my vocals and keyboard samples from "Already Dead" off "i/o." You can check out a clip and learn more here.
Felix at Flix Records has been spreading the "i/o" word across the pond. A number of reviews (like, here's one we can't read) have rolled in over the past few months and this month's Ox in Germany includes an interview with Adam and I.
And then there are all those projects I mentioned back at the turn of the new year.
The album work continues on my end. On two fronts actually. The long-mentioned Paper Tigers followup is back in progress. And then there's the "in the vein of parts of i/o" release that I've spent chunks of the last 8 months on. Both are rolling. As I'm trying to break myself of my horrible habit of setting deadlines destined to be broken, I'll only say that I plan to launch a new "everything" around the turn of the year. Before? Maybe. After? Maybe. I've decided that whatever this is needs to be right.
Meanwhile, Adam is hard at work on a new batch of Folk Heroes songs. Rumor (drunken Adam) has it that the batch may even include some stripped down Adam-and-his-guitar numbers.
Oh, and The Static Age is getting together in July to work on new songs. We'll post more then.
best,
Andrew / The Static Age
Hey all,
It's been an awesome year for The Static Age. The highlights? Recording/releasing "i/o" and making our first trek to Europe. And as the year comes to a close, we thought it time to post a little update about what we've been up to since we came off tour in September.
First up, Adam has been hard at work on his sideproject, Folk Heroes. Given Adam's penchants for all things Brian Baker, expect some melodic hardcore in the vein of Dag Nasty/Minor Threat/etc. If you're in the frosty northeast, they're playing their first show tonight:
Dec 31st. 2009
The Monkey House
Winooski, Vermont
w/Cannon Fodder, Torpedo Rodeo, +others

For my part, I've relocated from Brooklyn out to Chicago. Why? Because I like my wind chills subzero.
Out there, I'm busy recording a sideproject album in the vein of some of the songs on "i/o". Preproduction is done, and the album is shaping up to be 11 songs. I'm halfway through recording the instrumentation -- taking breaks only to listen to Kate Bush's "Hounds of Love" and Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak." Expect more on that come Spring.
I'm also practicing with some new people out in the frosty mid-north on some songs I've been kicking around for the past couple years. So far, we've been psyched. If the joy continues, we may play a show or three in the new year.
Oh, and Dave has been on the beach in Florida. Lucky bastard.
until next year,
Andrew / The Static Age

For the Apple lover in you, the record will also hit iTunes this week.
In other news, the album continues to get great press across the pond. But we're mostly taking Felix's word for it, cause we have no idea what things like this actually say:
Speak German? Read this.
How about French? (Interview...translated from Andrew's native tongue)
Lastly, a remix of "Daughters and Sons" will be posted next month.
